New Jersey FOR New Jersey

Doug Forrester and Jon Corzine both stepped up, in 2005, to take issue with the high court’s decision on eminent domain. Forrester appeared in Camden to decry the $1 billion redevelopment plan of the Cherokee Corporation which threatened to uproot 1200 working class homes in the city. Corzine said, while campaigning for Governor, if elected, “there should be no taking of homes for economic development except in rare and exceptional circumstances.”
