On January 26th, 2007, the New Jersey Association of Realtors® distributed a letter to our Governor and all members of the Legislature regarding its concerns of the availability and affordability of homeowner’s insurance. The letter urges the governor to focus on the issue before the situation becomes a crisis. The letter also encourages the legislature to support A3236, a bill that would appropriate $10 million to establish a “New Jersey Catastrophe Fund”. This fund would help to protect the insurance industry in case of a natural disaster.
A representative from the NJAR testified regarding its support for A3236 during the Assembly Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee hearing on January 18th.
The NJAR encourages all homeowners who have had insurance problems to bring it to the attention of their local legislator.
